Cyril Mbiatem Ojongtambia was born on 6 May 1950 in Mamfe, S W Region of Cameroon. His father was Mathias Ebot- Ebangha Ojongtambia of Mfuni; he was headmaster in the '30s and '40s; he died in 1950. Cyril's mother was Susana Ebai-Nso; she was princess of the Oben royal family of Mamfe town; Susana's mother was Ma Enaka of the Abunaw family of Besongabang; mama Susana died in 2007.
Cyril attended the following schools in Cameroon: Government Primary School Mamfe, Sacred Heart College Mankon and St. Joseph's College Sasse. At the invitation of his sister late Prof Theodosia McMoli, he moved to Lagos, Nigeria, and thence to the United States of America.
Cyril came to the USA in 1978. He attended Texas Southern University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering in 1987. After finishing his schooling he started his own jewelry company, Mr. Discount Jewelry also known as Mr. D, where he got the ever affectionate name that all those near and dear to us called him. In 1997 he started a Physical and Therapeutic clinic, Capricorn Medical. All of this he did up until he suffered a stroke in summer of 2000 while his family was on vacation in Britain. Cyril never let that incident stop him or discourage him from pushing forward. He was very instrumental in the work of Zion Covenant Ministries, where he held the position of an Elder. He also did a lot of work at the church such as answering calls, praying for and counseling people who needed his awesome words of encouragement. He had the special ability of making everyone he came in contact with feel loved, cared for, and encouraged. He was a father and grandfather to very many at the church and outside of the church.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Regine Efeti Kulu-Mofa Ojongtambia, five children: Michael, Jean, Beverly, Cyril Jr., and Horten; grandchildren Nevaeh and Jole Tyler, Cameron Brazell, and Theodore Ojongtambia. He was also a father and grandfather to many other children. Sisters Mrs. Jedi Zumafor and Mrs. Faustina Yembe, and brother Jasper Ojongtambia; along with a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws, his church family and friends.
